Raritan Expands Branch Office Portfolio with Flexible One-Port KVM-over-IP Solution

Palm-sized Dominion KX II-101 provides robust server management capabilities through secure connectivity

Capelle aan den IJssel - (February 20, 2008) - Raritan today expanded its remote management solution portfolio for branch offices with the addition of the Dominion® KX II-101 -- a unique palm-sized, single-port KVM-over-IP solution, attractively priced.

A server plugged into the Dominion KX II-101's single port can be accessed and managed securely by an IT professional located anywhere in the world. Ideal for troubleshooting and maintaining servers in branch offices and other remote sites, the new device enables IT administrators through a Web browser to fix server problems, perform upgrades by transferring files to remote servers using "virtual media," as well as turn on, off and recycle a server's power.

"The original KX 101 was a big hit with our customers because it delivered a cost-effective and reliable way to manage distributed remote sites," said Jami Miller, President of JEM Computers, Inc. "In many cases ROI was met the first time the KX 101 was used to troubleshoot a remote location - just based on the travel savings. Now that the new KX-II 101 comes with more advanced features -- such as virtual media and Absolute Mouse Synchronization -- and is priced most attractively, there shouldn't be a branch office without one."

"The KX II-101 is an affordable way to increase productivity by eliminating travel to branch offices and keeping branch office operations running smoothly," said Christian Paetz, Director of Product Management at Raritan. "With the introduction of the KX II-101 today, and the Dominion KSX II last month, we are offering customers the industry's most advanced solutions to cost efficiently improve productivity at remote sites that have few servers. These products meet our customers' needs by providing always-available server access in all types of environments."

Dominion KX II-101 at Work:

  • Branch locations in a Distributed Enterprise -- KX II-101 units can be used with servers in branch locations, providing secure, remote access to a centralized IT staff and allowing them to resolve server problems remotely.

  • Development and Test Labs -- By connecting a Dominion KX II-101 to each server with its switchless, any-to-any connectivity, a company can provide each and every developer with remote, non-blocked access to any server that they are authorized to access.

  • Field Technicians -- For field technicians on the move, the KX II-101 can replace the typical data center "crash cart" of a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Instead, the IT team can plug a KX II-101 to the problem server and use their notebook computers for troubleshooting. In addition, if the technicians need to collaborate with an expert at a different location, they can hook the KX II-101 to the network and have the expert log in to the target server to help fix the problem.

For companies with many remote locations, the Dominion KX II-101 is CommandCenter® Certified, so that multiple Dominion appliances - and connected servers and other IT equipment - can be managed from one IP address.
