Outlets Display
Turn individual outlets OFF and ON and monitor the individual outlets and the rack PDU overall. Each outlet features an icon whose color and flashing status indicates the status of the outlet.

Outlet Details
Displays the current, voltage and power values and status of a specific outlet in real time, and allows the user to power on, off and power cycle the outlet.

Event Log Settings Window
Allows users to configure event logging, including selecting the desired events and entering the e-mail address for notifications or other standards-based methods for storing events.  For example, you can configure Dominion PX to alert someone via e-mail when critical rack temperature thresholds are achieved or PDU power consumption is nearing critical and will soon trip a circuit if not attended to.  You can also configure it to simply store the event in an NFS log or forward to an SNMP enterprise management system.

Outlet Setup Window
Allows users to give each outlet a name to help identify the connected devices and to set non-critical and critical thresholds. For example, if the non-critical threshold for outlet #2 is set at 3.0 amps, and the device plugged into outlet #2 draws 3.4 amps, the LED for outlet #2 will flash red because the actual current draw is greater than the threshold. And, an e-mail alert would be sent if desired.

Certificate Signing Request Window
Allows administrators to manage Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) server certificates to ensure maximum security for controlling power in the data center, allowing only authorized users to remotely recycle power to equipment in local or remote data centers.

Network Settings Window
Network connectivity configurations can change using the Network Settings Window and includes support for user customizable port settings.

Alert Configuration Window
Allows users to set event policies, for example, configure Dominion PX to send an alert if a particular outlet’s current draw exceeds the critical threshold set by using the Outlet Setup Window.

User/Group System Permissions Window
Allows administrators to set up system-level access and permissions for individual users and user groups with granular access control permissions on a user or group level.

User/Group Outlet Permissions Window
Allows administrators to set up outlet-level access and permissions for individual user and user groups.  This provides the ability to segregate outlets to specific types of users or groups of users within departments.  For example, Cisco admins only have access to control or switch outlets that Cisco equipment is plugged into.

Unit Setup Window
Allows administrators to custom configure time delays for outlet on and outlet sequencing upon turning on the Dominion PX for the first time or when a circuit fails.  This is very important to prevent circuit failure issues related to in-rush current.

Authentication Settings Window
Allows administrators to configure local user authentication or leverage an existing enterprise directory service like LDAP or RADIUS.

User/Group Management Window
This window allows administrators to set up users including passwords and assignment to groups.  Dominion PX supports strong passwords to maximize security.

WHAT'S NEW?

This white paper explores the challenges of increasing computing power in both an inflexible and resource-constrained physical space, as well as data centers and server rooms that are experiencing high growth. We also explore how companies can employ emerging support technology - like intelligent power distribution units (PDUs) - to help manage server uptime and capacity planning.
